Thanksgiving Eve Greetings

Greetings from Church of Peace on this Thanksgiving Eve!

Tonight we have an opportunity to give thanks to God for all our blessings – and we each have so many, don’t we? Join us at 7:00 for a candlelit service complete with a story sermon, hymns of gratitude, and communion served in the pew. Inge Adelmeyer will bless us with an anthem. Bring the whole family! Confirmands are encouraged to attend this service; there will be no class tonight.

The church offices are closed on Thursday and Friday so our staff can enjoy their families.

By Sunday, the church season has turned to Advent! We’ll light the candle of Hope, sing “O Come, O Come Emmanuel,” and begin our preparation for the birth of Christ at Christmas. The Sunday School will provide special music. If the difficulties of this world are getting you down, this service of hope will be a good place to find new faith.

After Sunday’s service, stick around for the congregational meeting which the Council has called. The purpose of the meeting will be to vote on a $1.2 million loan from the United Church of Christ to fund our Building to Serve renovations.

The Messenger will be in the narthex by this evening and on line later today. Check it out at subversivecinema.com and admire our new website while you are there!

That’s the news from Church of Peace.

We’ll see you in church. Pastors Jenny and Jim

A prayer for today: As I enjoy family, food, and football during the next couple of days, O God, forbid that I should forget to thank you. All of these gifts and many more are from your generous hand. Make me truly grateful and show me how to live with an appreciative spirit. Amen.
