Greetings from Church of Peace 01-24-13

Greetings from Church of Peace!

Know anything about of Ezra and Nehemiah?  They are featured in this Sunday’s Scripture lesson.  It is an interesting story with much to teach us about faithful living in 2013. The older Sunday School kids will be singing a rollicking anthem.  Little Meadow Schendel will be baptized.  We’ll begin at 8:45 – join us!

The Chapel Choir will host the Social Hour. We’ll have time to drink a cup of coffee or juice and eat a cookie before we head back upstairs for the Annual Meeting.  It will begin at 10:00; we aren’t expecting it to be long.  We’ll be electing new leaders, passing a budget, and looking at an endowment policy. Please attend. It will be interesting and enjoyable.

NEW Worship will be held tonight at 6:30 in the Upper Room of Gammert Hall.  Can’t come this Sunday?  Join us tonight.  You’ll be glad you did.

Janet Rymer was hospitalized and has returned home. Please remember her in your prayers.

This Sunday we begin our Souper Bowl of Caring food drive.  Our goal this year is 1000 food items.  Any boxed or canned food will be welcomed thankfully. Please bring the food to the church this Sunday or next.

There are some significant changes in the church year that you’ll want to note on your calendar right away:

Tuesday, April 30th              4-7      Church of Peace Turkey Dinner

Saturday, October 26th     9-3      Church of Peace Bazaar

You’ll hear more about these upcoming events in the February Messenger which will be coming out next week (a little later than usual so we can include the information from the Annual Meeting).

That’s the news from Church of Peace.

We’ll see you in church!  Pastors Jenny and Jim

A prayer for today: Thank you for warming my heart on these chilly days, O God of Light and Love.  I pray for holy guidance as I go about my tasks.  I pray for heaven-sent patience and compassion as I deal with people.  I pray for a sense of divine peace within my heart. Bless Janet Rymer as she continues to heal.  I pray remembering Jesus.  Amen.
