Greetings from Church of Peace 12/17/15

Greetings from Church of Peace!

The Christmas trees are up in the sanctuary and they are breathtakingly beautiful. Thank you to the Worship Enhancement Team and our confirmands for decorating them. Here are upcoming opportunities to worship in the loveliness of our sanctuary:

  • Tonight is the Service of Remembrance and Hope. This candle-lit service brings peace, comfort, and hope. It begins at 7:00 p.m. A social hour follows.
  • Sunday is the Love Sunday. Inge Adelmeyer will provide special music. Pastor Jim has prepared an inspirational story sermon. The children will find the pieces to the nativity set which have been hidden in the chancel. The Moore family will light the candles. It will be a joy-filled, love-rich service. It begins at 8:45 a.m.
  • Christmas Eve at 4:00 we will gather for a service for the young and the young at heart. Carols, Scriptures, and a visit by the holy family will be some highlights of the service. The Chapel Choir will sing. Holy Communion will be served. Bring a bell if you have one.
  • On Christmas Eve at 7:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. our traditional candle-lit services will held. Each will feature Holy Communion. There will be special music at each service provided by young adults of the congregation. Bring a bell if you have one.

OTHER NEWS

PARENTS, the Sunday School Christmas program practice is from 9:00-10:30 this Saturday morning. Middle-schoolers are asked to stay until 1:00 to help prepare the cookies for Sunday’s social hour. The Sunday School Christmas Program will be held this Sunday, December 20th at 10:15 in the sanctuary.

This year’s caroling party will begin at 5:00 p.m. this Sunday with pizza. Then we’ll take the bus around town to bring Christmas cheer. We’ll be back at the church about 7:30 p.m. This is fun and heart-warming for the whole family.

Several people have asked for a link to the Wavin’ At the Cars video which was shown in worship last Sunday. Here it is: https://youtu.be/huoQpnWCUO4

We’ll see you in church! Pastors Jenny and Jim

A prayer for today: In this season of preparation and anticipation, I pray, O God, that I won’t be too busy to sense your nearness. Open my eyes to the many ways I can prepare my heart and our world for you through acts of kindness and words of love. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.
